#27: “我永远无法成为他们的一份子” 三个美国亚裔人遇到的歧视事件

急诊室 jí zhěn shì = emergency room
没想到,病人一看到他是华裔后,却对他说:
“不要碰我,我能见另一个医生吗?你可以不要靠近我吗?”
马特知道,身为亚裔人,他面对的歧视问题其实已经比其他少数族裔小很多。
少数族裔 shǎo shù zú yì = minority ethnicities
但是,他觉得这样的事件还是会影响医护人员的士气。
他说,他们的工作压力大,随时都有可能被 COVID-19 感染的风险。
士气 shì qì = morale
压力 yā lì = pressure
风险 fēng xiǎn = risk
#2: “为什么你不戴上口罩?”
Dahyung Oh 是一名来自韩国的23岁大学生。
今年2月,她在纽约 (New York) 的一个地铁站里等车。
她突然发现,有一名女子在瞪着她。
“她开始向我靠近,指着我说‘为什么你不戴口罩,你应该要戴上口罩。’”
瞪 dèng = to stare or glare
戴口罩 dài kǒu zhào = to wear a mask
当时,美国的疫情还没那么严重,戴口罩的人不多。
她们周围有很多人都没戴上,包括那名指着她的女子。
“我当下觉得非常愤怒,我因为身为亚裔而被针对,”Dahyung Oh 说。

#3: “我永远无法成为他们的一份子”
刘文决定要买她人生中的第一支枪。
31岁的刘文是一名美国华裔,她现在住在德州 (Texas) 的奥斯汀 (Austin)。
她觉得,自己的亚裔身份可能会让她受威胁。
枪 qiāng = gun
身份 shēn fèn = identity
威胁 wēi xié = to threaten
她说,有人在超市对她的亚裔朋友喊脏话,并用力推她,要她离开超市。
脏话 zāng huà = vulgarities
刘文说,她希望永远不会用到这支枪。
“五年前刚来到美国时,我的目标是尽快地适应美国的文化。”
“不过疫情让我意识到,因为我是亚裔,因为我的样子或者我的出生地,我永远无法成为他们的一份子。”
