#42: 谐音被滥用
Chinese writing (particularly in internet slang and advertisements) often contains word-play using characters with similar pinyin but different meanings. Is this bad for kids learning to read Chinese?

有一位评论员在报章上批评现代社会滥用谐音的现象。
批评 pī píng = to criticize
滥用 làn yòng = to abuse or misuse
谐音 xié yīn = characters that have similar pinyin but different meanings, used as a form of word-play in Chinese
她写道：
小时候，我和父母出门时，我都喜欢读街上的广告牌和海报。
我会边走边读，读不出的字父母会耐心教我读。
广告牌 guǎng gào pái = billboard
海报 hǎi bào = poster
耐心 nài xīn = patiently
就这样，我学会了不少字词，也喜欢上了汉语。
现在回想起来，当时社会的物质不如现在丰富，但却有着干净的语言环境。
物质 wù zhí = material wealth
丰富 fēng fù = abundant
语言环境 yǔ yán huán jìng = language environment
长大后，我发现世界变了。
最近，越来越多人在滥用谐音。
网络用语中出现不少谐音，比如：
网络用语 wǎng luò yòng yǔ = internet slang
神马 shén mǎ = magical horse, used as a replacement for 什么 shén me = what
童鞋 tóng xié = children’s shoes, used as a replacement for 同学 tóng xué = classmate
杯具 bēi jù = cups, used as a replacement for 悲剧 bēi jù = tragedy
在疫情期间，也出现了：
疫情 yì qíng = epidemic
疫起过生活, used as a replacement for 一起过生活
疫起来做饭, used as a replacement for 一起来做饭
我曾在网上看到一个例子，说有一个孩子在作文中这么写：
“妈妈叫了我好几遍后，我才衣衣不舍地离开。”
孩子妈妈看到后，马上给孩子指出，应该是“依依不舍”。
依依不舍 yī yī bù shě = reluctant
但是孩子听后却说：“肯定错不了，街上一家服装店的招牌上就是这么写的。”
服装店 fú zhuāng diàn = clothing store

滥用谐音字词，通俗的讲，就叫错别字。
为了我们的孩子，请慎用谐音字，留一块干净的语言环境。
通俗的讲 tōng sú de jiǎng = to use a more common term
错别字 cuò bié zì = a wrong word or typo
慎用 shèn yòng = use with caution
