昨天是7月1日，是香港回归中国的23周年，也是《香港国安法》开始实施的第一天。
回归 huí guī = to return to
周年 zhōu nián = anniversary
香港国安法 xiāng gǎng guó ān fǎ = the National Security Law imposed on Hong Kong
实施 shí shī = to implement
国务院港澳办副主任张晓明 (Zhang Xiaoming, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office of the State Council of China) 称，《香港国安法》是中国政府送给香港人民“一份特殊的生日礼物。”
特殊 tè shū = special
他相信，这份礼物在未来一定会显示出它“珍贵的价值”，香港会更安定、更繁荣。
未来 wèi lái = future
珍贵 zhēn guì = precious
价值 jià zhí = value
安定 ān dìng = stable
繁荣 fán róng = prosperous
很多中国网民表示，为香港能够收到这份“礼物”感到开心。
有人说：“这个生日礼物好，意义非凡。”
“祝福香港！祝福祖国！❤️❤️”
意义非凡 yì yì fēi fán = has special meaning
祝福 zhù fú = blessings / well wishes to
祖国 zǔ guó = motherland
什么是《香港国安法》？

《香港国安法》列出四类危害国家安全的犯罪行为：
分裂国家 fēn liè guó jiā = separatism
颠覆政权 diān fù zhèng quán = subversion
恐怖活动 kǒng bù huó dòng = terrorism
勾结外国势力 gōu jié wài guó shì lì = collusion with foreign countries
犯罪者最高可判处无期徒刑。
犯罪 fàn zuì = to commit a crime
判处 pàn chǔ = to sentence
无期徒刑 wú qí tú xíng = life imprisonment
中国政府说，这只是为了打击极少数的犯罪分子。
打击 dǎ jí = to hit out against
犯罪分子 fàn zuì fēn zǐ = criminal
香港人“还是可以有不同的政见，包括反对政府的主张。”
政见 zhèng jiàn = political views
主张 zhǔ zhāng = viewpoint
但也有不少人认为，《香港国安法》里罪行的定义刻意模糊，这会限制人们的言论自由。
定义 dìng yì = definition
刻意 kè yì = deliberately
模糊 mó hú = vague
限制 xiàn zhì = to restrict
言论自由 yán lùn zì yóu = freedom of speech
香港人民和国际社会的反应

《香港国安法》开始实施的第一天，有不少人上街抗议。
香港警方逮捕了370人，其中9人可能违法《香港国安法》，包括一名身上带着“香港独立”布条的抗议者。
抗议 kàng yì = to protest
逮捕 dài bǔ = to arrest
违法 wéi fǎ = illegal
独立 dú lì = independence
有不少香港民众担心，他们之前在网上发表的言论会对他们造成不利，纷纷上网删除。
不利 bù lì = disadvantage

删除 shān chú = to delete
西方国家表示，《香港国安法》直接威胁香港人民的民主与自由。
美国政府指出，中国违背了当初对香港的承诺，现今的香港已经不是“一国两制”，而是“一国一制”。
威胁 wēi xié = to threaten
民主 mín zhǔ = democracy
违背 wéi bèi = to violate / go against
承诺 chéng nuò = promise
一国两制 yī guó liǎng zhì = one country, two systems
