7月15日，美国国务卿迈克·蓬佩奥（Mike Pompeo, US Secretary of State）在Twitter上发布这条推文，引起不少人的猜测：
他是在影射当今的中美关系吗？
或是对中国国家主席习近平发出什么讯号？
猜测 cāi cè = to conjecture or guess
影射 yǐng shè = to insinuate
讯号 xùn hào = signal
维尼熊与小狗的含义
蓬佩奥在推文中写道，照片里的小狗是他的宠物Mercer。
Mercer身边有“所有它最喜欢的玩具”。
而这些玩具中最显眼的就是一只维尼熊。
大家可能知道，维尼熊就是习近平的外号。
宠物 chǒng wù = pet
显眼 xiǎn yǎn = conspicuous
维尼熊 wéi ní xióng = Winnie the Pooh
外号 wài hào = nickname
2013年，一些网络图片将习近平的体形跟维尼熊作比较。
当时很多人看了之后认为，确实有点像，于是这个外号很快就传了开来。
“维尼熊”在中国是一个非常敏感的字眼，会受到审查。
体形 tǐ xíng = body shape
敏感 mǐn gǎn = sensitive
审查 shěn chá = to review or censor
2019年，中国政府甚至将一个电玩游戏下架，因为游戏中含有将习近平比作维尼熊的暗示。
如果维尼熊代表习近平，那么Mercer小狗又是代表谁？
有人认为，Mercer小狗代表蓬佩奥自己或美国。
所以，蓬佩奥可能在用这条推文，向中国发出一个警告。
暗示 àn shì = hint
代表 dài biǎo = to represent
警告 jǐng gào = warning
Twitter上有49万人点赞了这条推文。
但由于Twitter在中国被禁止，我们不知道中国民众看了这条推文之后会有什么反应。
随后，当蓬佩奥被问到这张照片的意思时，他笑着说，没什么特别的意思；当时小狗旁边有不少玩具，维尼熊只是其中一个玩具。
