#71: 只卖一本书的书店
A newspaper columnist visits a tiny bookstore in Tokyo that prides itself on only selling a single book at any given time.

日本有一家书店,只卖一本书。
一位评论员去了这家书店,写下了感想:
我已经不记得是在什么地方读到这家书店的报道了。
我连书店的名字都不记得了。
但我一直记得东京有这样的一家书店,它只卖一本书。
所以这次到东京,我决定一定要去看看。
虽然早已经把书店名字忘掉,但我很感激自己活在网络时代。
只需搜“只卖一本书”这五个字,马上就有1万6700个搜索结果。
感激 gǎn jī = to be thankful

书店的名字叫做“森冈书店”。
这家店在东京银座 (Ginza, Tokyo) 的一条小巷。
我和朋友差点就错过了这家小到不起眼的书店。
书店真的很小很小。
网上都说店面仅五坪大,我不清楚“五坪”到底是有多小。
但我知道书店小到我的朋友宁愿在店外吹冷风,顺便抽一根烟,也不想进去店里。
小到,当店主跟我说话的时候,我好像觉得店里又变小了一些。
小巷 xiǎo xiàng = alley
宁愿 nìng yuàn = would rather
顺便 shùn biàn = on one’s way / at the same time
抽烟 chōu yān = to smoke
这个星期,店里卖的是一个日本绘本家刚出版的绘本。
书店也举办了跟这个绘本家有关的一个小画展。
可惜,我对这本书和这些画都不怎么感兴趣。
之后,我跟店主说话。
店主告诉我,他认为一家书店有太多不同的书,这样会让读者迷失。
因此他想帮助读者做出选择。
每周,他会选一本书在店内卖,有时也会举办跟这本书有关的活动,像是这次的画展。
绘本 huì běn = picture book
画展 huà zhǎn = art exhibition
迷失 mí shī = to get lost
其实,我有不同的想法。
我认为问题在于,店主心目中的好书并不一定就是我心目中的好书。
帮助读者做出选择一不小心就会变成左右读者的品味。
而且,我觉得店主也低估了在书店里迷失的乐趣。
在书海之中偶然发现一本自己想要带回家的书,那种快乐是别人无法推荐给你的。
左右 zuǒ yòu = to affect / to sway
品味 pǐn wèi = taste / preferences
低估 dī gū = to underestimate
偶然 ǒu rán = accidentally
推荐 tuī jiàn = to recommend
