The Wall Street Journal reports that Huawei's founder encouraged employees to “surge forward, killing as you go, to blaze us a trail of blood." Sounds gory – is something lost in translation here?

华为 huá wèi = Huawei (name of company)
创始人 chuàng shǐ rén = founder
任正非 rèn zhèng fēi = name of person
呼吁 hū yù = to appeal / exhort

《华尔街日报》一篇标题为“Huawei Founder Ren Zhengfei Takes Off the Gloves in Fight Against U.S”的报道中把这句话翻译成“surge forward, killing as you go, to blaze us a trail of blood”。

华尔街日报 huá ěr jiē rì bào = The Wall Street Journal
标题 biāo tí = headline / title
翻译 fān yì = to translate

血腥 xuè xīng = bloody / gory
宣战 xuān zhàn = to declare war

商场如战场 shāng chǎng rú zhàn chǎng = business is like war

领导人 lǐng dǎo rén = leader
军事用语 jūn shì yòng yǔ = military terms
比喻 bǐ yù = to use as a metaphor for
商业策略 shāng yè cè lüè = business strategy
激励 jī lì = to excite or encourage

刺刀 cì dāo = bayonet
血书 xuè shū = a letter written in one’s blood

攻击性 gōng jí xìng = aggressive

强调 qiáng diào = to emphasize
公平 gōng píng = fairness
开放 kāi fàng = openness
互利 hù lì = mutually beneficial
创新 chuàng xīn = innovation

难怪 nán guài = no wonder

质疑 zhí yí = to harbor misgivings around

允许 yǔn xǔ = to allow
通讯系统 tōng xùn xì tǒng = communications system

解放军 jiě fàng jūn = People’s Liberation Army
军官 jūn guān = military officer

恐怕 kǒng pà = I’m afraid that
疑虑 yí lǜ = misgivings
